The Burnett Seminars are held annually at UNC Chapel Hill and feature a keynote speaker related to the field of Learning Differences. These popular events, free and open to the public, are made possible by a gift to UNC by The Timothy B. and Jane A. Burnett Seminar for Academic Achievement. This fund was started in 1998 by Mrs. Juliet H. Davis, Mr. Burnett’s mother, and her late husband, W. Burke Davis ‘37 and continues to be supported by Timothy and Jane Burnett, both of whom graduated from UNC-CH in 1962. All are from Greensboro, NC.
This year the speaker is Dr. Maryann Wolf, Director, Center for Reading & Language Research, Tufts University. Her talk is “The Mystery, Challenges and Beauty of Dyslexia: Insights from the Reading Brain.”
